Bath Area Research Organisation Network

BARONET is a collaborative network of GP Investigators working out of 4 GP practices in the Wiltshire area covering a database of just under 90,000 patients. The network is run from an office in Trowbridge, near Bath where client meetings can be comfortably conducted. The centres themselves are based mainly in Wiltshire and the surrounding area. Easy access off the M4 at junctions 17 and 18 and rail travel from London Paddington takes a little over an hour.

Dr Nick Jones has taken over the role as lead Network Chairman/GP Investigator, Dr Jones has been an active part of the group since its creation, forming partnerships within the NIHR and championing research in primary care.

Hanorah Saliba is the newly appointed network manager from September 2017 for BARONET and the principal contact for any company wishing to find out more about the network. Hanorah is a registered nurse and has a wealth of research industry experience spanning 10 years. Hanorah has worked at the Trowbridge site as part of the BARONET group for just over a decade and so understands many of the issues facing sponsor companies when choosing a recruitment partner in the healthcare sector.

BARONET works closely with NIHR and Local CRN (Clinical Research Network). All centres are used to working independently but are able to mobilize effectively as a "cluster" when required.

BARONET recommends that sponsors consider carefully whether an independent primary care research network like BARONET could service their protocol with greater speed of set - up, attention to detail, recruitment effectiveness and accountability than a secondary care centre might be able to.

BARONET have been approved in 2014 as the UK's first 'PFIZER INSPIRE' primary care partner site
